Three Natural Ways to Achieve Whiter and Fairer Skin

Psychology defines as the quality that a person or a thing possesses that gives pleasure or satisfaction to the mind from manifestations of shape, color, sound and many others. One preferential sample of beauty is through our skin color. Some prefer tanned individuals while others find that whiter is more appealing. People themselves sometimes want to be more tan or white because they think that one complexion suits them better.

It’s nominally easy to get a tan. If you can sunbathe, all you’ll need is some tanning oil and you’re set (but don’t expose yourself too long; your skin could go from tanned to tarnish a moment too long).

The more problematic of the two, however, might be skin whitening. How can individuals make their skin lighter if they don’t have enough resources to go through expensive skin treatments?

Don’t worry, because there are natural and thrifty ways to lighten your complexion. Just follow these three easy ways and you will get a fairer skin in just a few weeks.

Lemons
Did you know a lemon can be used as a whitening agent? It has properties that act as a bleach for the skin. It also contains vitamin C that is good for cell regeneration and antioxidants that is good for improving skin complexion. Just squeeze it in a cotton ball then rub it gently to the affected areas of the face or skin that needs to be lightened. Wait for at least one hour then rinse it properly. Doing this for at least once a day can greatly improve your skin.

Honey
Another natural remedy for skin whitening is by using honey. It helps bleach the skin while maintaining skin moisture. Dry skin causes skin to discolor unevenly. It also acts as antibacterial agent that is good for removing spots and acne marks.

Aloe Vera

Last on our list is the aloe vera gel. It contains properties that help in preventing hyperpigmentation (a major cause of uneven skin tone). It can restore skin to a healthy state and is very effective in improving overall skin complexion.

Still, you can visit your dermatologist in Quezon City for your skin care.

A Western Standard for Tropical Beauty

Dark spots? Uneven skin tone? Dark Complexion?

In a tropical country like ours, those are the common skin problems for most of young girls and boys today in so much as environmental damage to the skin is concerned.

Aside from environmental factors, however, beauty in the Philippines used to be measured by how white you are. Even today, a white complexion is enough to make people turn heads giving birth to the expression “maputi lang siya” when referring to someone who gets attention because of light colored skin.

But how did white skin become a standard of beauty?

It’s a little historical. We were lead to believe that a person is handsome or beautiful when his or her skin is white evidently during the Spanish occupation. Even the words they used to separate people psychoanalytically gave the impression that being “lighter” is better—back then, people of greater status, who are learnt, and have been to the Europes were called Ilustrados (enlightened).

Today, we watch western movies, commercials, and other multimedia related stuffs. The effects of colonization still manifest today.

In western standards, beauty comes in three forms:
·        Having a fair skin
·        Being Tall and Thin
·        Stylish hair and clothing

But, in recent past, the landscape of appreciating beauty has evolved to favor any skin color—natural has become the new beauty and that’s a good thing! As a citizen of the tropical country, even those of light-skinned origin will have difficulty keeping their color from getting a little tanned because the heat in Philippines can get pretty insane.

Other says that having whiter skin greatly improves their appearance, and preferentially, they could be right but only in as much as those who appreciate light skin. They became more beautiful and satisfied with it. Generally, whatever boosts your self-confidence better is always the way to go; defining beauty still depends on the eye of the beholder. The preference remains the basis of what beauty would look like. Some like those who have dark skin tone, while others like those who have whiter skin tone.
